Profile Description

This role is responsible for planning and driving implementation of health, safety & environmental initiatives across the units in Mirsharai location along with proper monitoring and ensure that the industry’s best practices to be implemented to reduce /control safety hazards in workplace.

Educational Qualification

Graduation/Post Graduation in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering/Environmental Science from any reputed public or private university.

Experience

7-8 years of working experience in related industry and specifically in safety/maintenance function.

Functional Activities

a) Formulate annual plan for the HSE initiatives for units in Mirsharai location in alignment with corporate HSE.
b) Monitor relevant safety precautions are undertaken at the unit level.
c) Monitor that proper signs and symbols on safety are displayed properly across the units.
d) Facilitate and Conduct regular training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring and use of safety equipment.
e) Interpret safety regulations for others interested in industrial safety, such as safety engineers, labor representatives and safety inspectors.
f) Analyze and interpret statistical data related to safety, occupational illnesses and accidents.
g) Conduct or direct testing of air quality, noise, temperature, or radiation levels to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.
h) Oversee the regular inspection and maintenance of the fire detection system such as cleaning detectors, replacement of any equipment etc.
i) Monitor the submission of monthly Safety Observation (SO) of the employees and follow-up on the preventive measures.
j) Maintain records and documents pertaining to HSE related certification.
k) Conduct Safety Audit Quarterly as per checklist.
l) Ensure compliance to ISO - QMS and EMS requirements as per standard.
m) Ensure timely escalation of challenges, concerns or unforeseen developments pertaining to the risk and actions to prevent their recurrence.
n) Identify potential safety issues through hazard identification and suggest improvement areas and take preventive measures to reduce safety risk pertaining to legal provision.

a) Attract and develop talent in the steel business.
b) Direct the process of effective department performance, overseeing performance management, recruitment, training and development of staff to ensure high level of engagement and motivated work environment. 
c) Engage and mentor direct reports to prepare them for larger and higher roles with BSRM.
d) Promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.  
e) Manage counselling and grievances of reportees.
f) Manage attendance and leave of reportees.
g) Ensure appropriate allocation of workload to reportees to enable work-life balance.

Coordination

a) Coordinate with fire service departments, medical aid societies and rescue teams, so that emergency responses can be facilitated.
b) Coordinate with functions and units to address the safety observations in the concerned area.
